Certificate In Christian Ministry | Online Ministry Certificate
BMA Theological Seminary Certificate Programs (Non-Degree)
For students who do not intend to pursue a degree-based program, they may earn an online ministry certificate that provides a foundational understanding of concepts and trends in theology and Christian leadership.
These two programs may be taken either for credit or not for credit. If taken for credit, most of the certificate courses may transfer into the requirements for the Associate of Divinity degree.
The Online Certificate of Christian Leadership is a twenty-one (21) semester hour program that is usually completed in 1-2 years, depending on course load. All courses in the online ministry certificate are offered only online.
The Certificate of Christian Studies is a twenty-four (24) semester hour program of studies designed to be completed in 24 months. It can be completed through either distance education courses or traditional courses offered at our affordable seminary on our beautiful Jacksonville, TX campus in the rolling hills and piney woods of East Texas.

What if I am Pursuing a Degree at Another Institution?
All classes at Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary are potentially eligible for transfer to another institution where you are pursuing a degree. Note that your receiving institution makes the final decision with regard to acceptance of credits from other schools, and the responsibility falls on each student to ensure the eligibility of transfer credits from BMA to your school.
We are accredited by both SACSCOC and ATS, and credits from BMA have been transferred to many seminaries, universities, and colleges over the years. Questions about the accreditation of BMA Seminary may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, by calling (404) 679-4500, or by using information available on SACSCOC’s website (www.sacscoc.org).
Personal Enrichment
A certificate of ministry may be simply for personal enrichment. Maybe an Associate, Bachelor or graduate degree in theology is daunting, and you aren’t ready to commit to completing an entire degree program.
Maybe you simply want to learn more about God’s Word and be challenged on an academic level to work out your theology, or feel better equipped to share your faith or disciple others in your daily life working in the marketplace.
BMATS offers three certificate programs that can help:
- Take classes for credit or for personal enrichment or spiritual growth
- Audit classes for no credit (not all classes are available to be audited)
- Enrich your personal faith, strengthen your leadership skills, and be challenged to think critically about issues facing the church today.
- Sharpen your faith in a community of other passionate believers while discovering new ways to put your faith into action.
- Study theology and Christian leadership under a highly qualified faculty of wise and proven ministers and leaders.
